  1. Have your name placed on the agenda, or raise your hand and wait to be recognized.
  2. The President will recognize the member.
  3. State your motion beginning with, "I move that ..."
  4. Another member may second the motion without waiting to be recognized.
  5. All motions should be submitted in writing to the Secretary' to ensure accuracy.

  1. Always put your motion in writing.
  2. Be succinct: Think first about what is you want done and then state it simply
  3. Be specific, but not detailed. The Board should be making policy decisions.
  4. Consult Board members about their opinions, especially those who might disagree.
  5. Be honest: Avoid hidden agendas and Trojan horses.
  6. Ask the Procedures Chair for assistance if you need it.

  1. Main motion may be amended by striking out, by inserting, by dividing the motion into two motions or by substituting. Motions may also be referred to a committee or discussion postponed to a later time.
  2. after being recognized, start by saying, "I move to amend the motion by ..."
  3. he amendment must be seconded and opened for discussion.
  4. An amendment of the amendment can be made, seconded, and opened for discussion
  5. No additional amendments can be allowed.
  6. Voting on amendments occurs in reverse order the amendment of the amendment first, followed by the amendment, followed by the motion as finally worded.
