Lucie Arnaz, daughter of the legendary television couple Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, listens intently as the Westport Public Library honored Pulitzer Prize winning author Oscar Hijuelos with the Westport Public Library Award at the Library's 10th annual Booked for the Evening this past June. In his remarks, Hijuelos mentioned how much he was influenced by Arnaz's parents.

The Otis Library in Norwich will show the original full-length documentary, “The Hollywood Librarian: A Look at Librarians Through Film,” on Tuesday, July 15, at 6:00 p.m. in the library's community room. The 2007 documentary is the first look at the real work and skills of the more than 60,000 librarians working in the United States, a well-loved but little understood profession. It weaves together documentary footage and interviews with film clips of often stereotypical librarians. The documentary was written and directed by Ann Seidl, who is a librarian. This program is free and open to the public.
