The Faith Hektoen Award is given annually by the Children’s Section of the Connecticut Library Association to recognize the efforts of an individual or group that has made an impact on library services to children in Connecticut at the local, regional or state level. Developed in 1979, the award is named for Faith Hektoen, who served for over twenty years as the first State Consultant for Children’s Services.

Nomination for this award must be postmarked by Friday, March 5, 2010 and submitted to:

Who is eligible for nomination?
  • Any person or group that has made an impact on library service to children in Connecticut at the local and/or state level.
Who can nominate a person or group for the Faith Hektoen Award?
  • Colleagues or peers in the library profession
  • Directors or supervisors of the nominee
  • Members of the Friends of the Library groups or Library Board of Trustees
What are the categories of nomination? There are two (2) categories of nomination:
  1. Outstanding Project or Program
  2. Career Achievement
What is an eligible Oustanding Project or Program?
  • Any program that has taken place during the last two years or an on-going program that has made a significant impact to children in Connecticut at the local, regional, and/or state level.
Who is eligible for Career Achievement?
  • Any person or group/organization that has had a significant impact on library service to children in Connecticut at the local, regional, and/or state level.
What does the winner receive?
  • An engraved bell
  • Recognition at the CLA Annual Awards Ceremony in April 2008 at the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa in Groton, CT
