CLASS Annual Conference
Are you thinking about the fall? Probably not yet! But please save this date for the CT Library Association Support Staff Annual Conference at Middlesex Community College (directions). We will have exciting speakers, pertinent career training, professional networking opportunities, great food, and more! Gene Kinally, recently retired from the Library of Congress and a support staff colleague himself is slated to be our keynote. Sessions will include such topics as cataloging, reference, new technologies (Google, wikis, etc.), hands-on software training, customer service, etc.

Why Teens Should Read Realistic Fiction
The Young Adult Section of CLA presents a full day workshop with author Alex Flinn at the West Hartford Public Library (directions). Ms. Flinn is a former attorney whose fascination with witness reliability and bias led her to write Fade to Black. She is the author of three previous books: Breathing Underwater, an ALA Top 10 Best Book for Young Adults; Breaking Point, an ALA Quick Pick for Reluctant Young Adult Readers; and Nothing to Loose, one of ALA Booklist's Top 10 Youth Mysteries. She lives in Miami with her husband and two daughters.
Tentative Schedule: 9:30-10 Check in/Registration with coffee and continental breakfast, 10-12 Alex Flinn speaks, 12-1 Lunch, 1-3 Alex Flinn speaks, 3-4 Booksigning.
